European Youth Parliament in the Czech Republic
The National Committee of the EYP in the Czech Republic is a non-profit, independent organisation
that gives young people the opportunity to have their say on important national, European,
and global issues. The organisation functions thanks to the voluntary commitment of around 35
students and teachers and is independent of all political parties and movements. We believe that
especially for the relatively young democracy of the Czech Republic it is of utmost importance to
encourage the young people to think independently, listen to and respect others’ ideas and beliefs,
work towards common goals, to work on personal initiative and take interest in current political
and social affairs. The conferences (or “sessions”) we organise are more than just parliamentary
simulations - besides the political debates, we foster enthusiastic cultural exchange among young
people.
Activities in 2009
National Selection Conference
At the end of March, EYP CZ organized their 9th National Selection Conference which brought
together 120 young participaints. The winners of this years NSC represented the Czech Republic
at the EYP International Session in Helsinki and will do so in Tromso.
