New picnic tables, planters, and some painting made the<br />

site look great despite all the destruction by MPB.<br />

There were young foresters, lots of interest, and lots of<br />

questions. The tour ran from 8:00 to 3:30. Attendees<br />

numbered approximately 45 – 50.<br />

• Interior Pollen Management Workshop – Dr. Joe<br />

Webber conducted the workshop on November 22 and<br />

23 at VSOC in Vernon with 27 people in attendance.<br />

• “<strong>Tree</strong> <strong>Improvement</strong> in BC” posters are now available<br />

in three formats: 24” x 36” poster, 11” and 18” poster,<br />

and single-page handouts. They are also available on the<br />

• The first draft of the “Spruce Manual for Seed<br />

Orchardists” was prepared by Jodie Krakowski and John<br />

• “Conifer Reproductive Cycle” diagrams and illustrations<br />

were colorized and will be made available via the web.<br />

• “Extension Note 9, Increasing Quality Seed Production<br />

in Western Redcedar Orchards: A Synthesis of a multiyear<br />

folia applied gibberellin A3 study” by John Russell<br />

and Oldrich Hak was completed. Copies have been<br />

printed for distribution, and it is also available at on the<br />

web.<br />

• “TICtalk – Volume 7” was available in December <strong>2006</strong>.<br />

Initially, the newsletter was web based only. However,<br />

150 copies have also been printed for distribution at<br />

• The publication “The Reproductive Biology of Western<br />

Larch”, in preparation by the the Inland Empire <strong>Tree</strong><br />
