The net loss for the year totaled 1,442 million euros,<br />
compared with a net loss of 599 million euros in 2000.<br />
The Sector’s interest in the net loss amounted to 1,418<br />
million euros (loss of 589 million euros in 2000). This negative<br />
performance reflects in part an increase in extraordinary<br />
charges, which included 485 million euros for provisions<br />
Innovative product content and styling, sophisticated<br />
manufacturing solutions, and the positive impact of the<br />
industrial alliance with General Motors are the strong points<br />
that the Sector is leveraging to enhance its competitive position.<br />
Fiat Auto is also pursuing, with unflagging determination, the<br />
development of a comprehensive portfolio of services, ranging<br />
from the financing of vehicle purchases to the creation of<br />
customized products and cutting-edge infomobility services.<br />
A belief in globalization is what drives Fiat Auto’s growth strategy.<br />
The Sector remains committed to strengthening its presence in those<br />
emerging markets that will provide the most rapid rise in demand<br />
over both the medium and long term, while carefully managing<br />
a wide range of projects in order to minimize risk exposure.<br />
