Judas Betrays <strong>Jesus</strong><br />
NARRATOR.<br />
Satan <strong>the</strong>n entered into Judas, surnamed Iscariot who was numbered among <strong>the</strong> twelve. He went to <strong>the</strong> chief priests and <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> guard to discuss a scheme for handing <strong>Jesus</strong> over to <strong>the</strong>m. Approaching <strong>the</strong> chief priests with an <strong>of</strong>fer he said:<br />
JUDAS.<br />
What will you give me if I will deliver him to you?<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>The</strong>y were delighted to hear it and agreed to give him a sum <strong>of</strong> money. Judas accepted and <strong>the</strong>y paid him thirty silver pieces. From<br />
that moment on Judas looked for an opportunity and a way <strong>of</strong> betraying him to <strong>the</strong>m without <strong>the</strong> people knowing.<br />

NARRATOR.<br />
Now <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Unleavened Bread came round, <strong>the</strong> day on which <strong>the</strong> Passover Lamb had to be sacrificed. <strong>The</strong> disciples came<br />
to <strong>Jesus</strong> and said:<br />
DISCIPLES.<br />
Where do you want us to go and make <strong>the</strong> preparations for you to eat <strong>the</strong> Passover?<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
So he sent two <strong>of</strong> his disciples, Peter and John, saying to <strong>the</strong>m:<br />
JESUS.<br />
Go and make preparations for us to eat <strong>the</strong> Passover.<br />
PETER/JOHN.<br />
Where do you want us to prepare it?<br />
JESUS.<br />
Listen, when you have entered into <strong>the</strong> city you meet a man carrying a pitcher <strong>of</strong> water. Follow him into <strong>the</strong> house and tell <strong>the</strong> owner<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> house which he enters, "<strong>The</strong> Master says this to you: `My time is near. It is in your house that I am keeping <strong>the</strong> Passover with<br />
my disciples. Where is <strong>the</strong> dining room in which I can keep <strong>the</strong> Passover with <strong>the</strong>m?' <strong>The</strong> man will show you a large upper room<br />
furnished with couches all prepared. Make <strong>the</strong> preparations for us <strong>the</strong>re.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>The</strong> disciples set out and did what <strong>Jesus</strong> had told <strong>the</strong>m to do. <strong>The</strong>y went into <strong>the</strong> city and found everything as he had told <strong>the</strong>m and<br />
<strong>the</strong>y prepared <strong>the</strong> Passover.<br />

NARRATOR.<br />
It was before <strong>the</strong> festival <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Passover and <strong>Jesus</strong> knew that <strong>the</strong> hour had come for him to pass from this world to <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r, having<br />
loved his own who were in <strong>the</strong> world and he loved <strong>the</strong>m right unto <strong>the</strong> end. When <strong>the</strong> evening came, he arrived with <strong>the</strong> Twelve.<br />
When <strong>the</strong> hour came, he took his place at <strong>the</strong> table and <strong>the</strong> twelve Apostles with him and said:<br />
