<strong>The</strong> <strong>Book</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jesus</strong> Chapter Seven: <strong>The</strong> life <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jesus</strong> from <strong>the</strong> Gospels <strong>of</strong> Mat<strong>the</strong>w, Mark, Luke, John in easy-to-read, chronological format.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
Looking up, <strong>Jesus</strong> saw <strong>the</strong> crowds coming towards him and said to Philip:<br />
JESUS.<br />
Where can we buy some bread for <strong>the</strong>se people to eat?<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
He said this only to test Philip, because <strong>Jesus</strong> himself knew exactly what he was going to do.<br />
PHILIP.<br />
Two hundred denarii worth <strong>of</strong> bread isn't even enough for <strong>the</strong>m to even have a small piece each.<br />
JESUS.<br />
How many loaves do you have? Go and see.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
When <strong>the</strong>y found out, one <strong>of</strong> his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's bro<strong>the</strong>r said to him:<br />
SIMON.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re's a small boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what is that between so many, unless we go ourselves and<br />
buy food for <strong>the</strong>se people. We have no more than five loaves and two fish.<br />
JESUS.<br />
Bring <strong>the</strong>m to me.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
Now <strong>the</strong>re was plenty <strong>of</strong> green grass <strong>the</strong>re and instructing his disciples said:<br />
JESUS.<br />
Make <strong>the</strong> people sit down. Have <strong>the</strong> men sit down in companies <strong>of</strong> fifty.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>The</strong>y did what <strong>Jesus</strong> had instructed <strong>the</strong>m to do and made <strong>the</strong>m all sit down on <strong>the</strong> grass. <strong>The</strong> people sat down on <strong>the</strong> grass in squares<br />
<strong>of</strong> hundreds and fifties, <strong>the</strong> men alone numbered about 5,000. <strong>Jesus</strong> took <strong>the</strong> five loaves and looking to heaven, gave thanks. He broke<br />
<strong>the</strong> loaves and gave <strong>the</strong> loaves to his disciples who in turn handed <strong>the</strong>m out to <strong>the</strong> crowds who were sitting down. He likewise did <strong>the</strong><br />
same with <strong>the</strong> fish and divided <strong>the</strong> two fish among <strong>the</strong>m all, giving out as much as <strong>the</strong>y wanted and everyone ate. When <strong>the</strong>y had all<br />
<strong>the</strong>y wanted and were filled, he said to his disciples:<br />
JESUS.<br />
Ga<strong>the</strong>r up all <strong>the</strong> pieces that are left over, so that nothing gets wasted.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
So <strong>the</strong>y ga<strong>the</strong>red up all <strong>the</strong> pieces that were left over after everyone had eaten and filled twelve baskets with <strong>the</strong> fragments <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> five<br />
barley loaves and <strong>the</strong> fish. Those who had eaten numbered about 5,000 men to say nothing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> woman and <strong>the</strong> children. <strong>The</strong><br />
people, when <strong>the</strong>y had seen this sign <strong>Jesus</strong> had given said:<br />
PEOPLE.<br />
This really is <strong>the</strong> prophet who is to come into <strong>the</strong> world.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>Jesus</strong>, perceived that <strong>the</strong>y were about to come and take him by force and make him king, immediately compelled his disciples to get<br />
into <strong>the</strong> boat and go ahead <strong>of</strong> him to Bethsaida, on <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r side, while he personally would send <strong>the</strong> crowds away.<br />

<strong>Jesus</strong> Walks on <strong>the</strong> Water<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>The</strong> disciples went down to <strong>the</strong> shore <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lake, got into <strong>the</strong> boat and went over <strong>the</strong> lake towards Capernaum. After sending <strong>the</strong><br />
crowds away, <strong>Jesus</strong> went <strong>of</strong>f again into <strong>the</strong> hills by himself to pray. Evening had arrived and he was by himself and had still not<br />
rejoined his disciples who were on <strong>the</strong> lake. <strong>The</strong> wind was strong, <strong>the</strong> sea was getting rough and by now, <strong>the</strong> boat was far in <strong>the</strong> midst<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lake being tossed about in <strong>the</strong> heavy sea. He could see that <strong>the</strong>y were worn out from rowing, for <strong>the</strong> wind was against <strong>the</strong>m.<br />
About <strong>the</strong> fourth watch <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> night and after <strong>the</strong>y had rowed three or four miles, <strong>Jesus</strong> came towards <strong>the</strong>m, walking on <strong>the</strong> lake. He<br />
would have passed by <strong>the</strong>m, but when <strong>the</strong> disciples saw him coming towards <strong>the</strong> boat, walking on <strong>the</strong> lake and <strong>the</strong>y were terrified.<br />
