NARRATOR.
There was a man sent by God and his name was John, the Baptist. This same man came as a witness, a man to bear witness of the
Light, so that everyone through him might believe. He was not the light, but was sent to bear witness of the Light. The Word was the
true Light that enlightens all men and he was coming into the world. He was in the world that had its existence through him, and the
world did not know him. He came to his own people and they did not accept him. But as many as did receive him, to them he gave
power to become sons of God. To all who believe on his name, who were born not of blood or will of the flesh or the will of man, but
of God. And the Word become flesh and lived among us. And we saw his glory, the glory that is his as the only-begotten Son of the
Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of him and cried, saying:
JOHN the BAPTIST.
This is the one of whom I spoke. He who comes after me, ranks before me, because he existed before me.
NARRATOR.
And of his fullness we have, all of us, received grace upon grace. For though the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth have
come through Jesus Christ. No man has ever seen God at any time; it is the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom position of the
Father, who has made him known.

NARRATOR.
The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, even as it is written in the book of the Prophet Isaiah:
'Look I am going to send my messenger before you; and he will prepare your way.'
