<strong>The</strong> <strong>Book</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jesus</strong> Chapter Six: <strong>The</strong> life <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jesus</strong> from <strong>the</strong> Gospels <strong>of</strong> Mat<strong>the</strong>w, Mark, Luke, John in easy-to-read, chronological format.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Calming <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Storm<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
With <strong>the</strong> coming evening that same day and <strong>Jesus</strong> seeing <strong>the</strong> great crowds that were all about him, gave orders to leave for <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
side, [to <strong>the</strong> east bank <strong>of</strong> Lake Tiberias].<br />
JESUS.<br />
Let's cross over to <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lake.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
One <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> scribes <strong>the</strong>n came up to him:<br />
SCRIBE.<br />
Master, I'll follow you wherever you go.<br />
JESUS.<br />
<strong>The</strong> foxes have holes and <strong>the</strong> birds <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> air have nests, but <strong>the</strong> Son <strong>of</strong> Man has nowhere to lay his head.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
Ano<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> his disciples said to him:<br />
DISCIPLE.<br />
Lord, let me go and bury my fa<strong>the</strong>r first.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
When <strong>the</strong>y had sent <strong>the</strong> crowds away, <strong>the</strong>y took <strong>Jesus</strong>, just as he was, into <strong>the</strong> boat. <strong>The</strong>y <strong>the</strong>n put out to sea. <strong>The</strong>re were also o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
little boats with <strong>the</strong>m. As <strong>the</strong>y sailed, <strong>Jesus</strong> fell asleep in <strong>the</strong> stern <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> boat with his head on a cushion. Suddenly, a violent wind<br />
storm broke over <strong>the</strong> lake. <strong>The</strong> squall was so intense that <strong>the</strong> waves were breaking over and in <strong>the</strong> boat. <strong>The</strong>y were in trouble! <strong>The</strong><br />
boat was swamped and to <strong>the</strong> point <strong>of</strong> sinking. <strong>The</strong> disciples went to <strong>Jesus</strong> and woke him up:<br />
DISCIPLES.<br />
Master, master, we're going down! Don't you care that we're sinking... Save us Lord, we're sinking.<br />
JESUS.<br />
Why are you so scared, you men <strong>of</strong> little faith.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
He <strong>the</strong>n stood up and rebuked <strong>the</strong> winds and said to <strong>the</strong> sea:<br />
JESUS.<br />
Peace, be still.<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>The</strong> winds subsided and <strong>the</strong>re was a great calm.<br />
JESUS.<br />
How is it that you do not have any faith? Where is your faith?<br />
NARRATOR.<br />
<strong>The</strong> men became exceedingly frightened and wondering, said to one ano<strong>the</strong>r:<br />
DISCIPLES.<br />
What kind <strong>of</strong> a man is this? He orders even <strong>the</strong> winds and waves and <strong>the</strong>y obey him.<br />
