APPENDIX 3: OVERNIGHT GUESTS<br />
(Appendix to <strong>College</strong> Regulation 19)<br />
Hosts have a responsibility for the safety <strong>of</strong> their guests, and to the <strong>College</strong> in that their guests<br />
do not cause significantly detrimental effects on the quality <strong>of</strong> life in the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
The Regulation on Overnight Guests does not apply to current Junior Members who may be<br />
guests in other student’s rooms’ subject only to the provision <strong>of</strong> paragraphs 2, 6 and 7 below;<br />
'overnight' means the period outside visiting hours, that is to say from 02:00 - 09:00. The<br />
Regulations apply to both on-site and <strong>of</strong>f-site rooms.<br />
Guests are allowed to stay in students' rooms overnight subject to the following Regulations:<br />
1. Not more than thirty guests on any night are allowed to stay overnight in students' rooms<br />
(see paragraph 5 below).<br />
2. Only one visitor is permitted to stay in any one student's room on a particular night.<br />
3. Children under the age <strong>of</strong> 16 are not allowed to stay overnight as guests in students’<br />
rooms.<br />
4. In any period <strong>of</strong> seven days:<br />
(a) No host may accommodate a guest for more than three nights.<br />
(b) No individual visitor may stay overnight for more than three nights.<br />
In special circumstances the Tutor <strong>of</strong> a Junior Member or the Pernoctating Tutor may<br />
vary these limitations.<br />
5. Each visit must be recorded in the Porters' Lodge at least by 21:00 on the evening <strong>of</strong> the<br />
night <strong>of</strong> the visit. The register records:<br />
(a) Name and room number <strong>of</strong> the host.<br />
(b) Name <strong>of</strong> the guest.<br />
(c) Night or nights during which the guest will stay.<br />
6. If on a particular night the maximum number <strong>of</strong> guests has already been reached in the<br />
register in the Porters' Lodge, but it is wished at very short notice to accommodate a guest,<br />
the student should consult the pernoctating Tutor, who may allow the additional visit if the<br />
circumstances warrant it. Such applications may not be made after 22:00.<br />
7. Hosts must keep their rooms so that the state <strong>of</strong> them is not inferior in any way to that in<br />
which they would have been if t<strong>here</strong> had been no guests. The same provision applies to<br />
corridors, bathrooms and gyp rooms; any Junior Member who experiences discomfort<br />
which is caused by a guest should consult his/her Tutor immediately. If additional work is<br />
