17. Room keys should be collected from the Head Porter and signed for. In the event <strong>of</strong> the<br />

room key being lost, the Porters' Lodge should be informed immediately; a charge will<br />

be made for a replacement. It is forbidden to cut extra keys. All room keys must be<br />

handed to the Head Porter by the end <strong>of</strong> the Residence Period for use, if necessary, by<br />

conference guests. Failure to do this causes great inconvenience and cost to the <strong>College</strong><br />

and will result in an automatic fine <strong>of</strong> £20.00.<br />

Meeting Room and Music Room keys must be returned to the Porters Lodge<br />

immediately after use. Failure to do so will result in a £10 fine.<br />

18. The gates <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> buildings will be closed at 23:00 each evening and the doors <strong>of</strong><br />

the Hall Building will be locked at midnight, except as provided in notices posted from<br />

time to time, or by special permission <strong>of</strong> the Senior Tutor, the Bursar or the<br />

pernoctating Tutor.<br />

19. Junior Members may accommodate a guest in their room if permission is obtained. The<br />

rules governing such visits and the procedure to be followed to obtain such permission<br />

are specified in Appendix 3.<br />

20. Undue noise is not allowed in the <strong>College</strong> and precincts or in <strong>College</strong> houses. Noise<br />

should never be at a level at which it disturbs other nearby residents. Audio equipment<br />

should not be audible outside a student's own room.<br />

21. Except by permission <strong>of</strong> the Senior Tutor, the playing <strong>of</strong> musical instruments is allowed<br />

only between the hours <strong>of</strong> 09:00 and 22:00, in rooms booked for this purpose at the<br />

Porters' Lodge, or in a student's own room between 17:00 and 20:00.<br />

22. The use <strong>of</strong> audio equipment is permitted in students' own rooms, the Auditorium Music<br />

Rooms, the Junior Combination Room, the Middle Combination Room, the <strong>Fitzwilliam</strong><br />

Society Common Room, the Gym, the Art Room, and the Café Bar. Except by special<br />

permission <strong>of</strong> the Senior Tutor it is forbidden elsew<strong>here</strong> in the <strong>College</strong> buildings and<br />

precincts. Disturbance to other members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> must be avoided and the use <strong>of</strong><br />

such devices will be prohibited w<strong>here</strong> this Regulation is neglected.<br />

23. Doors, walls and woodwork must not be defaced by drawing pins, nails, adhesive tape,<br />

blu-tack etc. Pictures, wall decorations etc., must be displayed by means <strong>of</strong> the picture<br />

rail or pin-up board provided. It is particularly important not to use drawing pins for the<br />

purpose <strong>of</strong> affixing notices and the like to doors and window frames, or indeed<br />

woodwork <strong>of</strong> any kind. Any interference with fire extinguishers, heat sensors or smoke<br />

alarms is forbidden. Any damage caused by disregard <strong>of</strong> this regulation will be charged<br />

to the Junior Member concerned.<br />

24. Further rules governing the use <strong>of</strong> certain public rooms may be posted in the room<br />

concerned.<br />

25. The rules governing the use <strong>of</strong> Gyp Rooms are given in Appendix 6.<br />

26. No animals may be brought within the <strong>College</strong> or its precincts.<br />
