One of the original ‘dragons’, Doug left<br />

the ‘den’ to dedicate his time to helping<br />

entrepreneurs set up in business for<br />

themselves, earning a host of industry<br />

awards in the process.<br />

Fans of the BBC TV series Dragon’s Den<br />

with long memories will remember Doug<br />

Richard as one of the dragons in the first<br />

two series. He’s a technology and software<br />

entrepreneur of more than 20 years, in<br />

which time he was President and CEO of<br />

Micrografx, and founded and sold two<br />

other companies, Visual Software and ITAL<br />

Computers.<br />

As a serial entrepreneur with a degree in<br />

psychology from the University of California,<br />

Doug is uniquely qualified to create and<br />

deliver effective training in how to start and<br />

run a profitable business. He was the founder<br />

and Vice-Chairman of the Cambridge Angels<br />

and Chairman of the Conservative Party Small<br />

<strong>Business</strong> Task Force.<br />

Doug was an Honorary Recipient of <strong>The</strong><br />

Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in<br />

2006 and became a fellow of the RSA the<br />

following year. He founded the School For<br />

Startups in 2008, helping people start more<br />

profitable businesses by teaching thousands of<br />

business people face-to-face and through online<br />

classes. This work gained him the Enterprise<br />

Educator Of <strong>The</strong> Year award from the National<br />

Council on Graduate Employment in 2010.<br />

Lucy is the London Stock Exchange’s representative<br />

responsible for London and the South of England. As part<br />

of that role, she provides support and guidance to private<br />

companies who are considering floating. She also manages<br />

the London Stock Exchange’s relationship with over<br />

850 Main Market and AIM quoted companies and the<br />

relationship with the corporate advisory community<br />

in the region.<br />

Prior to joining the Exchange in January 2011, Lucy<br />

worked at Smith & Williamson Corporate Finance,<br />

providing advice to AIM quoted companies and private<br />

businesses in the smaller company sector. Lucy started her<br />

career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, where she<br />

qualified as a chartered accountant in 2005. After four<br />

years in the audit practice, she then spent a further four<br />

years in the Capital Markets Group, providing reporting<br />

accountant and IPO readiness services on a number of<br />

domestic and cross-border UK IPOs, as well as other capital<br />

market transactions.<br />
