One of the original ‘dragons’, Doug left
the ‘den’ to dedicate his time to helping
entrepreneurs set up in business for
themselves, earning a host of industry
awards in the process.
Fans of the BBC TV series Dragon’s Den
with long memories will remember Doug
Richard as one of the dragons in the first
two series. He’s a technology and software
entrepreneur of more than 20 years, in
which time he was President and CEO of
Micrografx, and founded and sold two
other companies, Visual Software and ITAL
Computers.
As a serial entrepreneur with a degree in
psychology from the University of California,
Doug is uniquely qualified to create and
deliver effective training in how to start and
run a profitable business. He was the founder
and Vice-Chairman of the Cambridge Angels
and Chairman of the Conservative Party Small
Business Task Force.
Doug was an Honorary Recipient of The
Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in
2006 and became a fellow of the RSA the
following year. He founded the School For
Startups in 2008, helping people start more
profitable businesses by teaching thousands of
business people face-to-face and through online
classes. This work gained him the Enterprise
Educator Of The Year award from the National
Council on Graduate Employment in 2010.

Lucy is the London Stock Exchange’s representative
responsible for London and the South of England. As part
of that role, she provides support and guidance to private
companies who are considering floating. She also manages
the London Stock Exchange’s relationship with over
850 Main Market and AIM quoted companies and the
relationship with the corporate advisory community
in the region.
Prior to joining the Exchange in January 2011, Lucy
worked at Smith & Williamson Corporate Finance,
providing advice to AIM quoted companies and private
businesses in the smaller company sector. Lucy started her
career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, where she
qualified as a chartered accountant in 2005. After four
years in the audit practice, she then spent a further four
years in the Capital Markets Group, providing reporting
accountant and IPO readiness services on a number of
domestic and cross-border UK IPOs, as well as other capital
market transactions.
