4.16 Pump Housing<br />

Recommended tools:<br />

Socket wrench - 1/2" (13mm)<br />

Rubber / Plastic mallet<br />

Removal:<br />

1. Remove drain plug (5) from bottom of housing and<br />

drain water from pump case.<br />

2. Remove four screws (6) mounting pump housing (7)<br />

to the back pump flange (8).<br />

3. Lightly tap housing with mallet to break seal and<br />

remove housing.<br />

4. Thoroughly clean debris from pump housing (7),<br />

volute (9), and flange (8).<br />

5. Remove volute (9) and clean O-Ring (10) and intake<br />

port.<br />

Installation:<br />

1. Check clearance between impeller (11) and volute<br />

(9). Add shims as required. See Section 4.10<br />

Adjusting Impeller Clearance.<br />

2. Inspect O-Rings (12) and (10). Grease O-Rings<br />

lightly before assembly. Make sure areas where O-<br />

Rings seat are clean.<br />

3. Mount pump housing (7) to flange (8). Secure evenly<br />

with screws (6). Torque to 26 ft.lbs. (37 Nm).<br />

Note: Pump housing MUST seal flush around rear<br />

flange. Replace pump flange if it appears warped or bent.<br />
