a) HDD sockets are used for connecting monitors in PC
applications.
Normally it has:
- a VGA signal (RGB + H-sync + V-sync; progressive; sync signals
with 5V TTL level or
- no sync signal is necessary, since the receiver has “positive
scan”)
A PC HDD output with a VGA signal cannot be connected to a
video signal input of a playback device (TV), since the structure
of the VGA signal and video signal are different.
b) HDD sockets are used for connecting projectors or flat
TVs for video applications. Depending on the manufacturer,
the pin assignment can vary strongly!
* Depending on the socket wiring, the video signal is transmitted
as a:
- FBAS signal or
- S-video signal or
- RGB signal or
- YUV signal or
- VGA.
The HDD sockets can be adjusted to one of the signals using the
menu software.
Variations:
- Plasma or LCD TV (because this developmental technology
comes from the PC sector): Normally, these devices have socalled
sync strippers connected in a series that can adjust to
the present signal depending on your synchronization signal.
