Diagnostic characters: Monoporate pollen <strong>of</strong> globular or oval shape, disregarding<br />

secondary folds. Exine intrabaculate, 0.5 pm thick; sculpture finely punctate. Pore<br />

round, 2.5 pm in diameter, with 1.5 ,urn wide annulus.<br />

Measurements: 34 X 35 ,urn in diameter.<br />

Stratigraphic range: Late Oligocene to Plio-Pleistocene in <strong>Middle</strong> Europe.<br />

Germany: Late Oligocene (Oberbayerische Faltenmolasse; St. Augustin); <strong>Middle</strong><br />

Miocene (Klettwitz); Miocene-Pliocene (Rhine land); Pliocene (Elbe;<br />

Wetterau); Plio-Pleistocene (Buchenau).<br />

Italy: Late Miocene (Gabbro / Toscana).<br />

Poland: Late Miocene (Rypin).<br />

South Bohemia: Pliocene.<br />

Remarks: The single specimen, which was encountered, has a rather narrow annulus<br />

around the pore.<br />

Botanical affinity: Gramineae.<br />

Diagnostic characters: Monoporate pollen grain. Figura oval with a pore (I. 5 ,urn in<br />

diameter) which is framed by a 2.5 ,urn wide annulus. Exine chagrenate, 0.5 pm<br />

thick, deformed by secondary folds.<br />

Measurements: 27 X 20 ,urn in diameter.
