Condition of the baby<br />

- Usually still born<br />

- Incase of incomplete rupture <strong>and</strong> if it happens in the<br />

hospital it is possible to have a live baby.<br />

Management<br />

1. Hysterectomy<br />

2. Repair of the uterus if the it torn anteriorly<br />

Postoperative care is the same with other postoperative<br />

cases.<br />

7.10 Lacerations<br />

A tear is called laceration. <strong>The</strong> tear can occur in the vaginal<br />

wall or in the perineum or in the cervix. Tears of the perineum<br />

are graded according to their severity. Other areas of trauma<br />

may be the cervix <strong>and</strong> extended tears of the vagina.<br />

Causes<br />

1. Not controlling the head at delivery<br />

2. Precipitate labour<br />

3. Big baby<br />

4. Face to pubis <strong>and</strong> after coming head of breech<br />

5. Instrumental delivery<br />

6. Old scar tissue <strong>and</strong> face presentation<br />
