At the end of this chapter the studens will be able to:<br />

- Mention causes of pelvic infections<br />

- Diagnose uterine inversion<br />

- Define different type of abortion<br />

- Diagenose ectopic pregrnancy<br />

- Mention complications of abortion<br />

- Demonstrate self-examination of the breast<br />

Infection in the human body is the result of complex<br />

interactions between pathogenic organisms <strong>and</strong> host<br />

defenses. Infection involving the female pelvis has many<br />

unique characteristics. An underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the anatomy of<br />

the female reproductive organs allows the physician /or<br />

nurses to appreciate some of the features influencing the<br />

development, manifestation, treatment, resolution, <strong>and</strong><br />

sequelae of female pelvic infections.<br />
