Asia–related programs at the Brook<strong>in</strong>gs Institution <strong>and</strong> the Monterey Institute of<br />
International Studies <strong>and</strong> held the Fei Yim<strong>in</strong>g Chair <strong>in</strong> Comparative Politics at the Johns<br />
Hopk<strong>in</strong>s University–Nanj<strong>in</strong>g University <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese <strong>and</strong> American Studies <strong>in</strong><br />
Nanj<strong>in</strong>g, Ch<strong>in</strong>a. His editorial <strong>in</strong> the New York Times (July 2001, with Sarah Palmer) <strong>and</strong><br />
article <strong>in</strong> Foreign Affairs (March 2002, with Jennifer Chang <strong>and</strong> Sarah Palmer) helped<br />
