Ph.D in Gender and Development Studies/<br />
Women`s Studies<br />
Many learners, while pursuing degrees and specialisations<br />
in a variety of disciplines, develop scholarly interests in<br />
issues specifically concerned with women, and a desire<br />
to continue their academic pursuits through specialised<br />
research in this area. This programme provides such<br />
students the perfect opportunity to pursue their research<br />
interests within their area of specialisation. This<br />
programme would also help to create a pool of specialised<br />
experts who may later be employed in teaching at the<br />
university level, in public service, in non-governmental<br />
organisations, or in a variety of other fields where<br />
specialised research on gender issues is called for.<br />
M.A. in Gender and Development Studies (MA<br />
(GD))<br />
This programme is offered in face-to-face mode. The<br />
first year courses, if successfully completed, would earn<br />
the learner a Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and<br />
Development Studies. If the learner continues with the<br />
second year courses and successfully completes them,<br />

Activities<br />
The School has launched a Friday Seminar Series,<br />
wherein talks/lectures are delivered by eminent<br />
academics/practitioners in the area of Gender and<br />
Development Studies. For instance, Prof. Gail Omvedt,<br />
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair, <strong>IGNOU</strong> and Prof. Aijaz<br />
Ahmed, JMI, have delivered some of the lectures.<br />
