Statistical data pertaining to SC/ST employees<br />
is obtained from various quarters of the University<br />
and furnished to the MHRD, UGC, National Commission<br />
for SC/ST and Parliamentary Committee.<br />

activities of this Division are given below.<br />
Legal Cell<br />
The cell deals with all legal matters related to the<br />
University.<br />
Coordination Section<br />
This section deals with the personal claims of the<br />
University employees such as medical, LTC, TA/DA,<br />
loans and advances, house building advance, GPF<br />
advance, etc.<br />
Hindi Cell<br />
This cell looks after the implementation of the Official<br />
Language Policy of the Government of India and makes<br />
available necessary inputs/help to increase the use of<br />
Hindi in the day-to-day work of the University. It also<br />
arranges Hindi Pragya and Prabodh classes for non-<br />
Hindi speaking staff, translates office orders/memoranda/<br />
circulars/press releases/forms and organises awareness<br />
campaigns for the use of Hindi in the office.<br />
Recruitment Cell<br />
The cell looks after advertisement, screening and other<br />
activities pertaining to the recruitment of various posts<br />
for Group `A`, `B` and `C` services.<br />
Right to Information Act Cell<br />
The Administration Division implements the Right to<br />
Information Act, 2005. For the purpose of implementation<br />
of RTI Act, 2005, the Deputy Registrar (Administration)<br />
has been designated as the Public Information Officer<br />
(Administration). At present, 14 officers of headquarters<br />
have been designated as Public Information Officers. In<br />
addition, all Regional Directors have also been designated<br />
as the Public Information Officers. The Registrar<br />
(Administration) has been designated as the Appellate<br />
Authority for the Administrative Division.<br />

This Division, based at the headquarters, caters to the IT<br />
service requirements of the whole University. All the<br />
three-tiers of the University, i.e., the Headquarters at the<br />
main campus in Maidan Garhi (New Delhi), the<br />
countrywide regional centres, and the learner support<br />
centres all over the country and abroad are provided<br />
services through this Division, even in virtual mode<br />

Internet Broadband<br />
Web Application/Wiki/<strong>IGNOU</strong> Open Course Guide/Proxy<br />
servers are available in Open Source for providing<br />
internet and various in-house built applications at the<br />
Headquarters. All regional centres use these services<br />
with local ISPs. The main website of <strong>IGNOU</strong> –<br />
www.ignou.ac.in is being maintained (hosting, creating<br />
and updating) by the Computer Division. The campus<br />
LAN consists of about 35 LANs covering the various<br />
buildings of the campus. This network is also supported<br />
with Wi Fi wireless connectivity at select places, which<br />
is maintained by the Computer Division.<br />
SWISS (Single Window Information and Student<br />
Support), available through the link, ‘Student Zone’ on<br />
the <strong>IGNOU</strong> website, and through about 150 web-enabled<br />
KIOSKS installed at the <strong>IGNOU</strong> regional centres and<br />
select learner support centres, is supported by the<br />
Computer Division. The Division has also developed the<br />
two web-enabled facilities of online admission and online<br />
recruitment applications, as well as a unified admission/<br />
re-registration software for all the regional centres to<br />
use.<br />
e-PRAANGAN, a centre in the main campus linked to<br />
the 90Mbps internet broadband, is being used by<br />
<strong>IGNOU</strong>`s staff and families for internet usage.<br />
ERP - Back Office Automation and IMS<br />
<strong>IGNOU</strong> has taken the initiative to get the ERP<br />
implemented through Tata Consultancy Services, starting<br />
with back office automation of certain divisions. This<br />
activity is being coordinated by Computer Division.<br />
