The Ministry of Government Services finished<br />
renovations at the Fleming VRC in the spring. These<br />
renovations, <strong>com</strong>bined with the new parking lot and entry<br />
from the highway <strong>com</strong>pleted late in the 2010 season,<br />
helped boost visits to this VRC this season. There were<br />
24.5 per cent more visitors to the Fleming centre in 2011<br />
than in 2010, leading to the highest visitation level for this<br />
VRC in five years.<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> improved the live chat system on<br />
its main consumer website. This system allows travel<br />
counsellors to be more proactive in directly engaging<br />
website visitors in an electronic conversation.<br />
Photography and Imagery<br />
Throughout the 2010-2011 fiscal year, 137 image<br />
requests were fulfilled, and an additional 1,489 images<br />
were downloaded from the online image library. There<br />
were 27 requests for video footage and copies of <strong>Tourism</strong><br />
<strong>Saskatchewan</strong>’s promotional videos.<br />
Travel Literature<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong>’s travel guides are core marketing<br />
pieces for the organization and the sector. The<br />
<strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Discovery Guide, launched in December<br />
2009, is a <strong>com</strong>prehensive travel publication filled with<br />
information about <strong>com</strong>munities, events, attractions, parks,<br />
history, culture, ac<strong>com</strong>modations, campgrounds,<br />
suggested itineraries, opportunities for adventure and<br />
recreation, and more.<br />
In 2011, the <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Fishing & Hunting Guide was<br />
re-designed to include feature stories and articles on<br />
operators, individuals, and topics of keen interest to<br />
Canadian and American hunters and anglers. The new<br />
design will continue for 2012. The Perfect Drive:<br />
<strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Golf Vacations and the Official<br />
<strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Road Map <strong>com</strong>plete <strong>Tourism</strong><br />
<strong>Saskatchewan</strong>’s travel literature series.<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> partnered with the Ministry of<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong>, Parks, Culture and Sport to capture new<br />
photography in six provincial parks during the summer.<br />
The Marketing team also acquired new photography<br />
featuring fishing, RVing, golfing, and houseboating<br />
activities in the Nipawin and Tobin Lake area. The team<br />
also captured new fishing video at Tobin Lake.<br />
In addition, Marketing supported Eric Lindberg, the<br />
Society of American Travel Writers’ Photographer of the<br />
Year, on his third trip to <strong>Saskatchewan</strong>. He took<br />
photographs in Regina, in partnership with Regina<br />
Regional Opportunities Commission, and the southwest<br />
part of the province, including the Big Muddy Badlands<br />
and Grasslands National Park.<br />
