That is steep but you’re buying convenience. There were
no free nights for buying fuel.
We traveled on a Saturday for our convenience and
because the weather was so nice from Texas to Branson.
That meant we were in Branson during an Iron Man/
Woman competition on Sunday. Not the best time to be
in a tourist destination. Besides the usual drive-in traffic
for the weekend, we had to dodge joggers and bicycles
for a day. The event seemed to be well-planned, but it
blocked roads, intersections, and parts of downtown for
everyone else.
I highly recommend learning the alternate roads
around town before you start driving there. There are
numerous routes around downtown. We were staying at
the Chateau on The Lake and used every other road available
to visit the areas of interest to us. Using the local map
drawn with alternate roads we were never more than 15
minutes from anything we wanted to do.
The Chateau is very nice and I would rate it four stars.
The food at all their facilities is expensive, as expected, but
very good. The room was very nice. I recommend asking
for one that’s not over the kitchen or you will not be able to
use the balcony because of the cooking smells and noisy
fans. Also, check for specials. We got three nights for the
price of two. Other hotels in Branson offer similar deals,
sometimes with free breakfast or show tickets.
