Oil Can Henry’s, based in Tualatin,
has announced a joint campaign in western
states with Universal Lubricants of
Wichita, Kan., to increase motorists’
awareness of proper vehicle maintenance
and the economic benefits of using ECO
ULTRA motor oil produced by Universal.
The ECO ULTRA line of motor oil is ecofriendly
and reduces the dependence on
foreign oil, said the two firms. Oil Can
Henry’s operates 88 service centers in
Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho,
Oregon, and Washington. The firm has a
reputation as “The One You can Trust” by
involving customers in vehicle service and
educating them on proper vehicle
maintenance, officials said, adding that Oil
Can Henry’s is committed to reducing the
impact on the environment by recycling
used oil, antifreeze, and other fluids.
Merles Saunders has retired after 31
years as the automotive instructor at Vale
High School. He was a legendary
instructor from the small eastern Oregon
town for placing first in more state
competitions in the Ford/AAA Student
Auto Skills competitions than any high
school in the state, winning 24 state contests.
Student teams from Vale also placed first in
the national Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills
competition five times, including 2011 in
Dearborn, Mich., and placed in the top 10 a
record 18 times. The skills competition is a
nationwide contest for high school juniors
and seniors who are interested in pursuing a
career in automotive technology. In 2011, its
62nd year, the competition involved 10,000
students who competed for a record $12
million in scholarships.

kick-off of a seven-week “Mitsubishi i

tour of Oregon, Washington, and California.

The Albany Indoor Swap Meet will
take place Nov. 19 on Springhill Drive in
Albany. The event draws hundreds of
vendors and thousands of buyers throughout
the Northwest to the indoor venue that
features a full spectrum of automotiverelated
products.

hammer,” Leddy said. “You
really have to know what type of
metal you’re welding on. You
can’t assume its all mild steel.”

A “Hard Hat & High Heels” fundraiser
and sneak peak at the progress of LeMay-
America’s Car Museum (ACM) in
Tacoma was held Sept. 24, attracting more
than 650 ACM supporters. An auction of
more than 130 items raised $550,000 for the
museum, which is set for a grand opening in
June 2012. The 165,000-square-foot facility,
which sits on 3.5 acres, will feature more
than 500 cars from the Harold LeMay
collection as well as hosting meetings,
conventions, parties, and educational events.
“This was an important milestone because it
signifies we’re open for business now even
though the grand opening is next year,” said
