The Seattle International Auto Show, one of the nation’s largest regional shows, will be staged Nov. 2-6 at the CenturyLink Field Event Center in Seattle. The show will feature more than 400 new 2012 model cars and trucks, and there will be test drive opportunities for Toyota, Kia, and Hyundai models. For details, visit www.seattleautoshow.com. Three ASA Washington (ASA-WA) units held four “Lights-on” events in the state Oct. 1, providing free inspection and replacement of vehicle exterior lighting to motorists. The Whatcom County Unit reported inspecting a total of 400 vehicles, 247 at the Bellingham site and 153 at the Everson location. Litter bags, maintenance brochures, and a list of local ASA shops were given to each participating motorist. The Spokane Unit of ASA Washington provided inspections to 148 vehicles with assistance from ASA member shops and automotive students from the Spokane Skills Center and Spokane Community College. The lanes at the Spokane “Lights-on” event handled 148 vehicles that had exterior lighting inspected and replaced as needed free of charge. The Bellingham location for “Lights-on” checked lighting on 257 cars and trucks on Oct. 1. The Pierce County Unit handled 100 cars and trucks at its Lakewood “Lights-on” location with 50 volunteers, including auto students from Clover Park Technical College and the New Market Skills Center. Free bulbs and lighting products were supplied by local parts stores in each area. Kevin Krecklow of Mastertech Automotive in Vancouver was one of four Federated Car Care Centers in the nation to race against dirt-track legends Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace at Schrader’s I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo., in September. The four “rookie” drivers were winners in the annual “Get Dirty with Kennys Sweepstakes,” a contest exclusively for Federated Car Care Center members across the country. In memoriam: Terrance A. “Terry” Holmstrom, 62, of Olympia, died Sept. 21. An Olympia native, he graduated from Tumwater High School in 1966 and attended Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood. He began his automotive career in 1968 at a Firestone tire store as credit manager, and in 1976 he fulfilled his dream of owning his own shop by opening Terry’s Automotive in Olympia. Currently in West Winners of the Federated “Get Dirty with Kennys Sweepstakes” pose with Federated officials and sponsored drivers at Kenny Schrader’s I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo. Olympia, the repair facility is now being run by two sons, Tod and Robert. Terry’s Automotive has been an active member of ASA Washington (ASA-WA) since 1994, and Holmstrom had served as treasurer of the ASA-WA Southwest Washington Unit for the past five years. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, four children, and seven grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service was Oct. 1 in Olympia.
