Wendy Lopez has been teaching English as a Foreign Language for more than 10 years. Her<br />
teaching experience has given her the chance to be with all ages of students. She is not married<br />
and enjoys the arts, cooking, and, most of all, teaching. Her objectives for participating in the<br />
TEA program are to have a close look at American culture and learn new teaching techniques.<br />

Zulema Roque has been teaching English literature, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, writing and<br />
oral language at a private secondary school for the past 9 years. Her students are between the<br />
ages of 12 and 14, and her class size is about 26 students. Zulema is the coordinator of her<br />
school’s evaluation committee where she has played a role in promoting effective teachingevaluating<br />
practices and in supporting the evaluation system in her school. Zulema received a<br />
secondary teaching degree in English from San Carlos University and concluded a licensure<br />
program in Psychopedagogy at Panamericana University in 2008. She is currently working on a<br />
Master’s degree in counseling at the same university. Zulema is single, and her hobbies include<br />
reading, listening to music, and traveling. Her main goal for taking part in TEA is to explore new<br />
methodologies in English teaching, and to learn from experienced teachers in an actual American<br />
school how to get students involved in their learning process.<br />

Aurelia Nohemi Satuye has been teaching English and social studies since 1994 at INEDB Noc.<br />
Domingo Juarros. The age of her students range from 13-30 years old, and on average there are<br />
40 students in each class. Her teacher’s degree was in Spanish language, yet she teaches basic<br />
English. Aurelia also does counseling with students in her free time, especially with girls to<br />
prevent drug use and unwanted pregnancy. Aurelia received a Bachelor’s degree from the<br />
University of San Carlos in Guatemala and a social worker degree from the University Rafael<br />
Landivar. She is married with three children, and she enjoys walking and visiting the elderly and<br />
disabled. Aurelia’s objective for participating in TEA is to learn new techniques in teaching to<br />
motivate students of ESL.
