Jovenel Thomas has been teaching English literature and language at a public secondary school
in Cap Haitien for 6 years. His students are between 12-22 years of age. There are 50 students in
his class. In this school, Jovenel works as a teacher who can provide training for freshmen
teachers and as an interpreter with the American missionaries who work from the school. He
received a certificate from a University in Limbe. He has recently taught leadership to different
groups and his hobby is reading literature. His primary goal for participating in TEA is to
explore new methodologies for teaching in a communicative way.

Hana Janou Mazier Garcia has been teaching social studies at Elvel School for the past 11 years.

class. Janou Mazier is an active member of her school’s different activities. Being the homeroom
teacher of 9th grade section A has given her the opportunity to promote effective parental
involvement in student education. Janou has one daughter. Her hobbies include manual arts,
aerobics, and dancing. Her primary objective for participating is to learn new methodologies for

conducted workshops for teachers to enhance subject skills. Suryakumari holds a Master’s
degree in Sociology and a specialization in Education with a Master’s degree. She is married
with two children. Her objectives for participating in TEA are to explore new methodologies and
approaches, share her ideas, and to bring back insights so as to enrich her own peers and pupils.
