Djibril Diouf has been teaching for six years at a public secondary school. His school is 200<br />

kilometers away form his native town and the Senegalese capital city. The age of his students<br />

range from 16-18 and on average there are 60 students in his class. He is the coordinator of the<br />

mixed cell, gathering all secondary school English teachers of the department. He would like to<br />

take part in the program so as to be more equipped to face the everyday challenges of the class.<br />

Aboubacar Sadith Gaye, English Teacher<br />

Aboubacar Gaye has been teaching English for nearly 10 years. The age of his students vary<br />

between 16 to 22 years old, and on average his class size is 50 students. He is an active member<br />

of his department cell. He received his Masters of Arts degree in 1994 at Cheikh Anta Diop<br />

University, Dakar, and his CAES (a degree in teaching methods) at ENS, Dakar. He is married<br />

with two young daughters, and he enjoys movies and sports. His primary goal for participating in<br />

TEA is to improve his teaching.<br />

Julienne Paule Lishou, English Teacher<br />

U.S. Host University: University of North Dakota<br />

Julienne Lishou has been teaching English language at a public junior high school for nine years.<br />

The age of her students is between 13 and 16 years old, and they range from the first form to the<br />

fourth form. Julienne has an average of 50 students in each class. She is also a dynamic member<br />

of her school’s English club. She is the Resident Pedagogical Adviser in her area. In 1999, she<br />

received a certificate from the Teachers’ Training School. Julienne has one daughter, who is<br />

three years old. Her main objective for participating in the TEA program is to exchange and to<br />

get more experience about the teaching of English. Her hobbies include songs and games and<br />

going to the beach.<br />
