Jagadish Chandra Sarker has been teaching English literature and language at a private<br />

secondary school for the past 10 years. The age of his students range from 11-16 years old. He<br />

received a Master’s degree in English from SMUCT in 2007. He is married with one young<br />

daughter. His primary objective for participating in TEA is to explore new methodologies for<br />

engaging students in a more participatory and active classroom setting.<br />

Phanet has been teaching English language and English methodology for almost 9 years. The age<br />

of her students range from 18-35 years old, and there are about 35 students in her class in the<br />

state school and about 20 students in her private class. She teaches English language and trains<br />

student teachers in teaching methodology. She received a Bachelor’s degree in biology from<br />

Royal University of Phnom Penh in 1995. She received her Teacher Trainer of English<br />

certificate in 2000. She is single and enjoys sightseeing and swimming.<br />

Polette Cheang has been teaching English Methodology at the Regional Teacher Training Center<br />

(RTTC) in Takeo province for 3 years. The age of her trainees range from 19-30 years old, and<br />

on average there are 30 trainees in her class. Polette is an active and hard-working trainer and<br />

also the English Department Chair at her center. Polette received a Bachelor’s degree in English<br />

from Royal University of Phnom Penh, Institute of Foreign Languages, and a certificate of<br />

Teacher of Higher Education from Nation Institute of Education (NIE). Her primary objective<br />

for the TEA program is to develop teaching professionalism to share with trainees.<br />
