Helping our students develop a global perspective and international mindset is a big part of the
ITE experience. In 2011, 28% of the student cohort ventured beyond our shores under the Global
Education Programme. Under the programme, students are given the opportunity to go on exchange
programmes, industrial attachments, perform community services, and participate in cultural and sports
activities. Some of the community services performed include upgrading a primary school in Vietnam,
installing solar water heaters for a Boys’ Home in Kerala, India, and teaching fire-fighting and first-aid
skills to the local community in Magelang, Indonesia.

Student ambassadors brought joy to the
disadvantaged children in an orphanage
during their cultural trip to Vietnam. The
children were victims of the after-effects
of Agent Orange, which was used during
the Vietnam War.
Overseas Calling: ITE student, Brandon Chia (centre), won the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation/National Youth
Achievement Award Youth Environmental Award 2011 and was selected to go on a trip to China to study the environment.

A third niche Diploma, the Technical
Diploma in Culinary Arts, was
launched in collaboration with
Institut Paul Bocuse, France.

ITE was conferred the Aon
Hewitt Best Employers in
Singapore Award.

ITE became the first and only education
institution to win the prestigious
Singapore Quality Award with
Special Commendation.

ITE was conferred the Public
Service Premier Award by
the Prime Minister’s Office.

An ITE graduate won
Singapore’s first Gold medal
at the biennial WorldSkills
Competition held in London.
