Jersey Live Festival
The atmosphere at Jersey Live
Festival is second to none, with a
vibrant and responsive crowd,
welcoming in recent years a huge
roster of artists. In 2011,
Madness and Plan B headlined to
a sell out crowd, with The
Streets, Feeder, The Ting Tings,
Ed Sheeran, Katy B, The Rapture
and many more appearing in the
line-up. Jersey Live Festival with
JT remains the Channel Islands’
biggest live music event with
20,000 attending over the
festival weekend. The line up so
far for 2012; Noel Gallagher’s
High Flying Birds, Chase & Status,
Primal Scream, Professor Green,
The Stranglers, Devlin, Maverick
Sabre and many more to be
announced.

Heavy Machine-Gun
Turret Bunker
One of the few surviving examples,
named sechsschartentürme bunkers
(literally “six-shooting turret”), once
proliferated along the Atlantic Wall. It
is possible to access the interior of
the cupola, equipped with a
deactivated MG34 machine-gun,
and peer through the optics to see a
landscape viewed as a potential
invasion point by the German
garrison.

The Sunday Cycle
Take this opportunity to see, smell
and hear what the motorists miss.
Enjoy a short cycle ride with Blue
Badge Guide Arthur Lamy and
discover the heart of the island. This
route passes the Jersey War Tunnels,
Morel Farm, St Lawrence Church and
the Parish Hall, before an easy
freewheel through one of Jersey’s
prettiest valleys back to the beach
side cycle track. Utilising the island’s
cycle-friendly 15mph Green Lanes,
this tour gives a great insight into
local farming, the Occupation and the
Jersey way of life. Each tour has
several stops to enjoy the island’s
history and culture, and usually a
refreshment stop if time allows.

Coastal Defence Gun
Casemate
This is the only coastal defence
bunker in the St Ouen’s Bay area to
retain its original gun, and is
practically complete. The gun had a
range of 10 – 12km and was part of
a network of similar weapons along
the coast.

Archaeological Apprentice
– Jersey Heritage
At La Hougue Bie you have the
chance to become an apprentice
archaeologist and to have a go at
some skills that are needed when
taking part in any archaeology dig. All
you have to do is pick up a pack from
the reception at La Hougue Bie. The
pack contains all the tools you will
need to be an apprentice
archaeologist.
