Since the Jersey Pearl family started the business
27 years ago, the pearl industry has seen huge
developments both in terms of its levels of production,
as well as the styles and colours now available on the
market.
Freshwater pearls, which are grown in large mussels, are
naturally found in shades ranging from warm white
through to blush pink and
pale purple, nowadays
however these natural gems
are also being dyed after
harvesting to create the most
fantastic range of rainbow
colours, from peppermint
green and midnight blue
through to hot fuchsia pink
and honey yellow.
Within the last decade there
has also been expansion
within the shape of the
freshwater pearl- traditionally
round, oval or pear-drop
shape, the farms in China,
where the majority of the
Freshwater pearls are grown,
are now able to create
irregular and unusual shaped
pearls such as the Keshi
pearl - which is commonly
described as the cornflake
pearl as well as the Biwa pearl,
a delicate and elegant long
stick shape.
Jersey Pearl has always worked very closely with their
suppliersallaroundtheworld,makingsurethatitisonly
the highest quality pearls that reach the shop floor.
As well as sourcing pearls directly
from the Pearl farms in the Far East,
Jersey Pearl also has an
in-house design team that are
regularly working on new designs
and collections.
To celebrate their 25th
anniversary three new
collections were introduced in
the range for 2010. The Lily Collection -
delicate rose ehite freshwater pearls
have been used to create this
elegant and feminine range.
The Alice Collection - working with
the ever-popular natural coloured
freshwater button pearls, this collection set on silver is
ideally suited for those looking to start their love affair
with pearls!
Jersey Pearl also introduced their Freshwater Pearl
Charm Collection - using the Jersey shoreline as
inspiration, this collection was exclusively design for
Jersey Pearl and has charms ranging from beautifully
crafted lobster, starfish and oyster shell designs to a
map of Jersey - the perfect memento of a visit to our
wonderful island.
