The lowest of the group of watermills
located along St Peter’s Valley, the
mill has undergone important
renovation work by the National
Trust for Jersey. Whilst not open to
the public as yet it is still possible to
enjoy the site’s settings and discover
the delightful walks in the
surrounding woodlands.

St Aubin’s Fort
St Aubin’s Bay, St Brelade

Built in the 1540’s, St Aubin’s Fort
pre-dates Elizabeth Castle and
together they provided protection to
the bay and the harbour at St Aubin.
Explore the fort by walking across
the wet sand at low tide.

St Brelade’s Church and
Fisherman’s Chapel

Overlooking St Brelade’s Bay, the
nave and the chancel date from the
Norman times. The adjacent
Fisherman’s chapel is thought to have
been built in the 12th century and
has some good 14th and 15th
century murals.

St Helier Church

Named after the town’s patron saint,
a hermit who lived on the rocky islet
on which Elizabeth Castle now
stands. Parts of the church date from
the 11th century. The gallant Major
Peirson, who defeated the French
when they last invaded in 1781, is
buried here.

The glass work including the font,
altar rail, cross and pillars, was
created by René Lalique of Paris and
is considered to be amongst his
greatest achievements.

St Saviour’s Church

Even compared to today’s superstars,
the life of Lillie Langtry was
extraordinary. She was born in the
Rectory, twice married in the Church
and rests in the churchyard.

other items. These can be accessed
at Jersey Archive on a Tuesday,

the member’s room of the Societe

Observation Tower at Noirmont Point
