Project Details:<br />
Water GIS initiated the “GIS Technology Migration<br />
and Transition Project” to Develop a<br />
solid GIS platform for enabling better GIS services<br />
aiming to meet objectives including Centralized<br />
GeoDatabase, WEB based Solutions,<br />
Integrated enterprise databases and Automated<br />
manual processes of major functions.<br />
Problems solved:<br />
On successful completion of the project, water<br />
GIS accomplished centralized GeoDatabase<br />
which supports multiuser editing (Versioning<br />
Mechanism) and enhance data maintenance,<br />
WEB based solution through intranet which<br />
assists decision making via Geographical information<br />
on fingertips, GIS database integration<br />
with other corporate databases which allows<br />
exchanging information, and automation<br />
of data uploading, verification, updating processes<br />
which improves data processing time.<br />
Selection Process:<br />
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation<br />
(“<strong>Kahramaa</strong>” – Water GIS) requested<br />
to M/s Mannai Trading & Co. to be enrolled<br />
in ESRI award selection, for recognizing organizations<br />
that have made significant contributions<br />
and advancements in GIS Technology.<br />
Jack Dangermond (President, ESRI) solicited<br />
nominations of outstanding users from<br />
vertical industry managers, U.S. regional offices,<br />
and international distributors. All Nominations<br />
of the applied organizations projects<br />
were carefully evaluated and 150 projects were<br />
chosen from more than 100,000 ESRI clients<br />
worldwide.<br />
Award Details:<br />
Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award is<br />
given to few selected user sites from around<br />
the world as recognition of their outstanding<br />
work with GIS technology. KAHRAMAA representative<br />
will receive this prestigious SAG<br />
award during the 11th -15th of July 2011 ESRI<br />
International User Conference which is held in<br />
San Diego.<br />
In fact, Water GIS initiatives of building a<br />
solid platform for providing GIS services to<br />
internal users has accomplished through this<br />
project which has set GIS Section ready to deliver<br />
future solutions and services.<br />
