Project Details:
Water GIS initiated the “GIS Technology Migration
and Transition Project” to Develop a
solid GIS platform for enabling better GIS services
aiming to meet objectives including Centralized
GeoDatabase, WEB based Solutions,
Integrated enterprise databases and Automated
manual processes of major functions.
Problems solved:
On successful completion of the project, water
GIS accomplished centralized GeoDatabase
which supports multiuser editing (Versioning
Mechanism) and enhance data maintenance,
WEB based solution through intranet which
assists decision making via Geographical information
on fingertips, GIS database integration
with other corporate databases which allows
exchanging information, and automation
of data uploading, verification, updating processes
which improves data processing time.
Selection Process:
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation
(“Kahramaa” – Water GIS) requested
to M/s Mannai Trading & Co. to be enrolled
in ESRI award selection, for recognizing organizations
that have made significant contributions
and advancements in GIS Technology.
Jack Dangermond (President, ESRI) solicited
nominations of outstanding users from
vertical industry managers, U.S. regional offices,
and international distributors. All Nominations
of the applied organizations projects
were carefully evaluated and 150 projects were
chosen from more than 100,000 ESRI clients
worldwide.
Award Details:
Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award is
given to few selected user sites from around
the world as recognition of their outstanding
work with GIS technology. KAHRAMAA representative
will receive this prestigious SAG
award during the 11th -15th of July 2011 ESRI
International User Conference which is held in
San Diego.
In fact, Water GIS initiatives of building a
solid platform for providing GIS services to
internal users has accomplished through this
project which has set GIS Section ready to deliver
future solutions and services.
