The Alp-crossing links between Nuremberg<br />

and Mantua as well as Ulm and Mortara connect<br />

important <strong>intermodal</strong> nodes, which can act<br />

as hub <strong>for</strong> new services (respectively towards<br />

Scandinavia or Northern Germany and the Italian<br />

ports or Central and Southern Italy). The<br />

<strong>freight</strong> village Berlin South Grossbeeren is the<br />

most important transfer and distribution centre<br />

in the metropolitan area of Berlin-Brandenburg.<br />
