What if you are unhappy with your
chosen home?
You may find that it takes a little time to adjust to living in a care home but most people will
settle into their new home after a while. It is possible that you find, after moving into your
chosen care home, you are not as happy as you hoped you would be. If you find yourself in
this situation and you really do not like it in the home you have chosen, we will help you find an
alternative.
However, there may be other, more minor difficulties that concern you. If you have a social
worker you can contact them directly (or speak to them when they next visit) about any
problems you are experiencing about living in the home.
If you do not have a social worker, you can contact the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales.
However, you do have the right to ask for a social worker and you can do this by contacting
your local Principal Office listed on page 6.
All homes are required to have a complaints procedure. If you are not satisfied with the care
you are receiving, please discuss your complaint with the home's manager in the first instance.
Alternatively, you may want to contact the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales (please see
contact details on page 7).
