Troedyrhiw is a council owned home, on the Caegarw side of Mountain Ash close to all local
amenities.
Troedyrhiw has 26 permanent beds including 1 respite bed. The home provides personal care
for frail older people and those who are elderly mentally infirm, and welcomes people on a long
term basis and also offers respite care for people living in the community. A Keyworker system
is in operation to ensure that all members of the care staff team take special responsibility for
individuals needs.
The home is fully accessible with all facilities on one floor. All bathrooms and toilets are adapted
to meet the needs of the elderly.
The home has 5 lounges, 3 for frail elderly, and 2 for elderly mentally infirm. 4 of these lounges
have televisions and videos and a quiet lounge for elderly mentally infirm. All bedrooms have
television and telephone points. There is also a visitors lounge with tea and coffee making
facilities.
A range of activities are organised on a regular basis. These include cards and board games,
bingo, in-house concerts and entertainment, theatre visits, organised day trips to places of
interest, trips to the Bowls Hall for lunch, beauty afternoons, annual summer fete, (money raised
is paid into an unofficial fund from which all residents benefit), seasonal entertainment (e.g.
St.Davids Day, Easter bonnet parade, Christmas celebrations), local Primary School and local
Rugby Club Choir visit to sing to residents.
The home has regular visits from Community Nurses, Chiropodists, Dentist, GPs and Optician.
