The Beeches Care Home The Beeches is a privately owned home situated at the edge of Aberdare town and is within walking distance of bus and railway stations and a taxi rank, enabling residents to access the range of amenities that are available within the community. The home provides personal and nursing care for adults over 18 years. It welcomes people on a short or long term basis and can offer a trial visit to people thinking about moving into the care home. The Beeches also offers respite care. The home can accommodate frail, older people, including those with a sensory impairment or continence problems or people who need more specialist nursing care such as terminal illness. The home is purpose built, with 58 registered beds. There are 28 single rooms and 14 shared rooms, 17 rooms have ensuite facilities. It is fully accessible and has a lift to gain access to the first floor. The home has 5 lounges including quiet lounges, together with a private visitors lounge. All rooms have television points and telephone points if required. The home has a car park and a garden with a patio and seating area. A range of activities are organised on a regular basis by the home's activities co-ordinator, including arts and crafts sessions, bingo, visiting entertainers and indoor gardening sessions. Local school children visit on special occasions. There are close links with the Salvation Army and local clergy visit to give communion. We have our own minibus with tail lift to allow residents to participate in trips out. The home has regular visits from a doctor, a chiropodist, a dentist, an optician and a physiotherapist.
