Dan-y-Mynydd Residential Home Dan-y-Mynydd is a council owned home situated in Cymmer, Porth and is close to local amenities, including a park and shopping centre. The home provides care for older people with dementia. It welcomes people on a short or long term basis and can offer respite care. A keyworker scheme is in operation at Dan-y-Mynydd, this is where a named member of staff will be given the responsibility of offering individual support to an individual resident. There are 25 registered beds at Dan-y-Mynydd, including one for respite, offering accommodation to elderly mentally ill residents. All rooms are single and on the ground floor. No rooms have ensuite facilities. There is a door entry system for security purposes. The home has 2 lounges, together with a private visitors' lounge. There is a public telephone for the use of residents. The home has a car park for 6 cars. A range of activities are organised on a regular basis including bingo once a week, video afternoons/evenings, sing-a-longs and visiting entertainers on a monthly basis. The home has regular visits from a doctor, a dentist, a chiropodist, an optician and hairdresser.
