Tŷ Pentwyn Nursing Home Tŷ Pentwyn is a privately owned, modern nursing home, renovated and refurbished to a very high standard. The building is situated in picturesque surroundings, on the outskirts of the town of Treorchy. The home is registered to provide both personal and nursing care for older people, including those who have more specialised needs such as dementia, are chronically sick, physically disabled or who need cancer care. There are 20 single rooms and 5 shared. No rooms have ensuite facilities. Tŷ Pentwyn welcomes people on a short or long term basis and can also offer respite care. The home is fully accessible for wheelchairs, with ramps and a lift to gain access to the first floor. The home has a lounge with television, video and music facilities and a kitchenette is available for the use of residents. There is a public telephone as well as telephone and television points in all rooms. The home has a car park and a large garden with lovely views and seating areas. A range of activities are organised on a regular basis including musical movement, visits from the local WI Kitchen Band, jewellery parties, slide shows and vocal artists. We play bingo, carpet bowls and hold quizzes. The council's mobile library also calls regularly. The home has a minibus for outings and on Friday mornings, picks up visitors to the home (from local area only). The home has regular visits from a doctor, a dietitian, a chiropodist, a dentist, an optician and hairdresser.
