Tegfan is a council owned home situated in the small village of Trecynon, near to Aberdare Park,
various shops and Maesnewydd Garden Centre and coffee shop.
The home provides personal care for frail, older people including those with a sensory impairment
or continence problems and people who are elderly mentally infirm. It welcomes people on a
short or long term basis and can offer a trial visit to people thinking about moving into the care
home. Tegfan also offers respite and day care for people living in the community.
Tegfan has 46 registered beds and all of its rooms are single, with 39 rooms having ensuite
facilities. It is accessible for wheelchairs, with steps and a ramp to the main entrance and a flat
entrance to the lower ground floor.
The home has 6 lounges, all with T.V. and video together with a private visitors lounge. All rooms
have television and telephone points. The home has a car park with 23 spaces and a garden with
a patio and seating area.
We have organised entertainment at the home, especially at seasonal occasions. Local
schoolchildren visit to entertain the residents with their singing, also local churches and chapels
visit to give services. Clothes sales are organised 3 times a year. Trips and outings are arranged
in the summer months to the seaside or countryside (weather permitting).
The home has regular visits from a doctor, a chiropodist, a dentist, and an optician. Religious
services are also available.
