George Galloway gave a demonstration on the Internet connection. He advised that in l2-13 months over 300,000 visits had been made to the web site. He demonstrated the 12 PIA Specifications that had been put on the web site. E-mail Distribution List. You can subscribe to the list. There are over 200 subscribers. It is very easy to sign up and easy to use. After the demonstration, the plenary session was adjoumed to committee meetings. The Plenary Session re-convened Sunday, September l5 at 9: l0 A.M. with a quorum present. SPECIAL MUSEUM - Sandy Reid reported. There was a great deal of interest in establishing a Museum by T. Taylor Brained out of Phoenix. Larry Hill of Eloy has offered to donate land to build a facility and the climate in the Southwest is good. We need a business plan setup and a trigger mechanism so when it reaches a certain point Larry will donate the land and a consortium can be setup to handle the establishment of the Museum. Possibly USPA and PIA could combine efforts. A meeting needs to be set in Eloy soon on exactly how to go about doing it. The aim would be for a "Parachuting Museum", not skydiving only but all types of parachutes. One of the biggest sources of future funding maybe Corporate Sponsors. Additional budget requests were then presented. The only additional request came from the Specifications Committee. Bill Gerrow requested $5,000.00 in additional funding to continue work on the PIA Specs. Motion to approve the request was made by Al Gramando, seconded by Allen Silver. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS Discussion ensued for the establishment of a new Membership category to be added to the Bylaws...it would be SUSTAINING MEMBER WITH DUES OF $5OO.OO PER YEAR. George Galloway made the following motion: MOTION: THAT PIA BEGIN THE PROCESS TO ESTABLISH A NEW MEMBERSHIP CATEGORY CALLED A SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP, WITH DUES TO BE $5OO.OO PER YEAR. MIKE BECK SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED Cliff announced that the next meeting of the Parachute Industry Association would be held at the Sheraton Astrodome Hotel in Houston, Texas on February 6,7 and 8, 1997, prior to the Symposium. The PIA Intemational Symposium will follow at the same location Februarv 9-13. 1997. The location for the September,1997 meeting was discussed. Meeting dates would be either September l2-14 or September 19-21,1997, and the following possible locations were then selected: San Diego, California Chattanooga, Tennessee St. Louis, Missouri Atlanta, Georgia Al Gramando then moved that the Executive Committee investigate the above sites and dates and make the determination for site and date within 60 days and get the contract signed. Seconded by Allen Silver. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the meeting, Bill Genow made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Sandy Reid. Motion carried.
