Cities were then recommended by all those in
attendance. Because of the time investment in
investigating each city the list was limited to eight
cities; Reno, Atlanta, San Diego, Houston, St.
[,ouis, Orlando, Chattanooga, and Nashville.
A very inviting proposal has already been received
fiom San Diego.
At the next PIA meeting the comrnittee will address
the plans for selling exhibit hall space. Exhibitors
who have ideas about how booth space may best be
sold are invited to send the proposal to Patti or
bring it to the meeting in Ilouston. We have such a
srnall exhibit hall venue that no "bad booths" exist.

Since our last meetins there have been no donations
to the museum.
The market value of our headquarters Quick &
Reilly account on August 30, 1996 was
$130,184.00.
Headquarlers: A poll was made of committee
chairs and we found that only 35- 40 hours a month
would be required of a paid employee. The
exception noted is the symposium committee whose
time requirements would range from very little to
virtually full time.iust prior to symposium.
This brings us to the work that Chris Needels did:
USPA/PlA Headquarters management first look
proposal.
In shoft, the estimated cost is $54,265.00 per year.
Needless to say, this would use up all cash in 3 to 4
years. I strongly suggest we hold off making a
decision until after symposium '97.
Between symposium and our fall meeting we
should be able to plan things out much more
smoothly, i.e. additional finances, eliminate some
current costs, negotiate with USPA fbr exactly what
we need, and hiring a (probably part-time) person.
Note: there are some good Washington, DC
prospects out there.
Motion that any profits from Symposium '9J be
deposited into the PIA Headquarters accounts.
GOVERNMENT SYSTEMS
COMMITTEE

John Machado, Co-Chair, reporting:
The committee discussed how to communicate back
to the membership how to deal with and work with
the Government. They felt that they would use the
Para NewsBrief and list seminars available
members could go to, participate in and learn "Who,
What, Where and How."
Committee deterrnined they could go no where
without the cooperation of the Army, Air Force,
Navy etc. and their technical people and people they
have responsible for parachute products as well as
the involvement of the big military contractors that
are out there. The committee will solicit
representatives from all those areas to make sure it
has a well rounded group.
Also discussed mil-spec changes and what is
happening with the new perfonrance specs.
