Psychology
Psychology emphasizes the development of an understanding of factors important in determining
behavior. Introductory courses present basic psychological principles; upper-level courses
provide opportunities for further work in areas of special interest. Independent study allows the
student to design and carry out original research. Internships in community settings enable the
student to make practical application of psychological principles.
Careers
A major in Psychology provides a basis for graduate study in areas of psychology, education,
social sciences, social work and law as well as a foundation for careers in personnel, social
work, mental health and similar areas.
Writing-intensive course requirement
The writing-intensive course requirement is met with PSYC 306.
Degree
A major in Psychology leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree.
Prerequisite
PSCY 201 is prerequisite to all Psychology courses except PSYC 310.
