INTS 450 Capstone Projects in INTS<br />

Capstone Projects in INTS: ôProjectsö is the capstone course for International Studies majors<br />

and is required <strong>of</strong> all international studies majors. In addition to reading and discussing major<br />

works on key international-type issues that cross disciplines, students will write a major paper<br />

and present it in class. The process <strong>of</strong> researching and writing the paper will involve collaborative<br />

learning among the students in the class. As needed. 3 hrs.<br />

JOHN BELK INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM<br />

JBIP 210 Study Tour Preparation<br />

Study Tour Preparation: An interdisciplinary and interactive study <strong>of</strong> the culture, history, politics,<br />

geography, economy, society and language <strong>of</strong> the area upon which the study tour focuses. Students<br />

must make not lower than a C- (an average <strong>of</strong> 70) in this course in order to be eligible to<br />

participate in the JBIP study tour. Open only to students enrolled in the appropriate study tour.<br />

Prerequisite to participation in the study tour. Prerequisite: Junior standing and a 2.000 cumulative<br />

grade point average. Fall & Spring Term, every year. 2 hrs.<br />

JBIP 220 Study Tour<br />

Study Tour: The opportunity for the student to study and experience the many facets <strong>of</strong> a foreign<br />

culture through a study tour program arranged by the Belk Program Office and led by<br />

<strong>Queens</strong> faculty. Study Tours, like JBIP 210, are interdisciplinary in nature and are open to all<br />

qualified students no matter their intended major. Prerequisite: JBIP 210. Winter & Summer<br />

Break, every year. 2-3 hrs.<br />

JBIP 270 Independent Study Tour<br />

Independent Study Tour: This course <strong>of</strong>fers students an opportunity to study and experience a<br />

foreign culture to those who, due to special circumstances, are unable to participate in JBIP<br />

220. A course <strong>of</strong> study, itinerary and evaluation plan must be approved by the JBIP Director.<br />

Students will be responsible for making their own arrangements for travel, accommodations and<br />

visiting sites. Students who have been approved may apply for the Belk Scholarship. Prerequisites:<br />

students approved for this course must take a corresponding JBIP 210 course in the semester<br />

prior to their international travel. As needed. Pass/No Record 1-3 hrs.<br />

LANG 101 Elementary Foreign Language I<br />

Elementary Foreign Language I: Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> grammar and phonetics, reading, writing and<br />

conversation <strong>of</strong> target language. This course will be <strong>of</strong>fered on a rotating topics basis as demand<br />

and faculty with sufficient credentials dictate. May be repeated with different topics.<br />

3 hrs.<br />

LANG 102 Elementary Foreign Language II<br />
