PSYC 306L Experimental Psychology Lab<br />

Experimental Psychology Laboratory: Application <strong>of</strong> techniques and procedures <strong>of</strong> psychological<br />

research including conducting experiments. Three hours laboratory per week. This course<br />

must be taken concurrently with PSYC 306. Fall Term, every year. 1 hr.<br />

PSYC 308 Exceptional Child<br />

Exceptional Child: Study <strong>of</strong> problems experienced by children who deviate from normative patterns<br />

<strong>of</strong> growth and development. Prerequisite: PSYC 320 or permission <strong>of</strong> the instructor.<br />

Spring Term, even years. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 310 Applied General Psychology<br />

Applied General Psychology: Study <strong>of</strong> the abilities and limitations <strong>of</strong> humans to sense, store,<br />

process information, and act applied to the design, use and maintenance <strong>of</strong> human/machine<br />

systems including human computer interaction. Fall Term, even years. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 311 Psychological Tests<br />

Psychological Tests: Introductory study <strong>of</strong> principles <strong>of</strong> test evaluation and interpretation and<br />

consideration <strong>of</strong> examples <strong>of</strong> the major types <strong>of</strong> psychological tests in reference to these principles.<br />

Prerequisite: MATH 106. Fall Term, odd years. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 312 Sensation and Perception<br />

Sensation and Perception: An introduction to the processes by which humans receive and interpret<br />

information from the environment. Sensory coding, information processing, perceptual<br />

development, perceptual illusions and psychophysical methods are among the topics discussed.<br />

As needed. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 314 Psychology <strong>of</strong> Learning<br />

Psychology <strong>of</strong> Learning: An introduction to the processes by which humans receive and interpret<br />

information from the environment. Sensory coding, information processing, perceptual development,<br />

perceptual illusions and psychophysical methods are among the topics discussed.<br />

As needed. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 315 Lab in Conditioning and Learning<br />

Laboratory in Conditioning and Learning: Conducting experiments in respondent and operant<br />

conditioning and in human verbal learning. Prerequisite/ co-requisite: PSYC 314. Three hours<br />

laboratory per week. As needed. 1 hr.<br />

PSYC 316 Cognitive Psychology<br />

Cognitive Psychology: Scientific study <strong>of</strong> mental processes involved in the acquisition, storage,<br />

retrieval and use <strong>of</strong> knowledge. This course covers theory and research in cognitive psychology<br />

as applied to topics such as attention, memory, language and problem solving. Fall Term, every<br />

year. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 320 Develpmental Psychology<br />

Developmental Psychology: An introduction to developmental processes from conception to<br />

old age. The emphasis in the course is on developmental principles, theoretical views and recent<br />

research. Fall and Spring Term, every year. 3 hrs.<br />

PSYC 328 Infant & Child Development<br />

Infant and Child Development: An examination <strong>of</strong> the development <strong>of</strong> children from early infancy<br />

through middle childhood including various aspects <strong>of</strong> pre and post natal development. Theoretical,<br />

empirical and practical aspects <strong>of</strong> the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development<br />

<strong>of</strong> the young child will be covered. Prerequisite: PSYC 201. Fall or Spring Terms, every<br />

year. 3 hrs.
