If the <strong>child</strong> is temporarily resid<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> another local authority, arrangements must<br />

be agreed <strong>for</strong> the monitor<strong>in</strong>g/supervision of the <strong>child</strong> while they are <strong>in</strong> the area<br />

and <strong>for</strong> the implementation of the Child Protection Plan. Assign<strong>in</strong>g responsibility<br />

<strong>for</strong> monitor<strong>in</strong>g is likely to depend on a number of practical considerations, <strong>for</strong><br />

example, distance. Consultation between the two authorities is essential. Where<br />

agreement cannot be reached about monitor<strong>in</strong>g arrangements, the matter must<br />

be immediately passed to senior managers <strong>for</strong> resolution. Whatever the<br />

difficulties and however these are resolved, the safety of the <strong>child</strong> is paramount<br />

and adequate monitor<strong>in</strong>g arrangements must be <strong>in</strong> place.<br />
