Engine Cooling System<br />

ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM :<br />

If engine overheating occurs, there could be a fault in the cooling<br />

system which may be due to :<br />

1. Insufficient coolant in the cooling system or dirt/scales having<br />

accumulated inside the cooling water passages especially in the<br />

radiator core.<br />

2. Choking or damage of radiator passages.<br />

3. Defective thermostat.<br />

4. Non operation of electrically operated fan. (40 Amp. fuse blown)<br />

5. Coolant leakage.<br />

6. Auxiliary tank cap not sealing properly.<br />

7. A.C. condenser fan (if installed) not working.<br />

8. Excessive refrigerant charging in the A.C. system (if installed).<br />

9. Improper bleeding of the cooling system.<br />

10. Coolant may not be in the right proportion with water.<br />

Prevention of Rust Formation :<br />

To prevent rust formation, the coolant in the radiator should be in the<br />

specified ratio of recommended antifreeze and soft water. i.e. 50:50.<br />

This is sufficient to operate the car upto -40 0 C.<br />
