uildings or structures <strong>of</strong> any character without having filed<br />
an application and obtained an electrical permit. Electrical<br />
wiring, apparatus and equipment, and all installations for<br />
light, heat, power or low voltage systems as are required<br />
and/or regulated in provisions <strong>of</strong> Chapter 27 <strong>of</strong> the FBC,<br />
Building, Fire Protection Provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code and the<br />
FFPC shall be maintained in a safe condition and all devices<br />
and safeguards maintained in good working order.<br />
101.4.2 Gas. The provisions <strong>of</strong> the FBC, Fuel Gas, Fire Protection<br />
Provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code and the FFPC shall apply to<br />
the installation <strong>of</strong> consumers’ gas piping, gas appliances and<br />
related accessories as covered in this Code. These requirements<br />
apply to gas piping systems extending from the point<br />
<strong>of</strong> delivery to the inlet connections <strong>of</strong> appliances, and the<br />
installation and operation <strong>of</strong> residential and commercial gas<br />
appliances and related accessories.<br />
101.4.3 Mechanical. The provisions <strong>of</strong> the FBC, Mechanical,<br />
Fire Protection Provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code and the FFPC<br />
shall apply to the installation <strong>of</strong> mechanical systems, including<br />
alterations, repairs, replacement, equipment, appliances,<br />
fixtures, fittings and appurtenances, including ventilating,<br />
heating, cooling, air conditioning and refrigeration systems,<br />
incinerators and other energy-related devices.<br />
101.4.4 Plumbing. The provisions <strong>of</strong> the FBC, Plumbing,<br />
Fire Protection Provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code and the FFPC shall<br />
apply to every plumbing installation, including alterations,<br />
repairs, replacement, equipment, appliances, fixtures, fittings<br />
and appurtenances when connected to a water or sewerage<br />
systems, lawn sprinkler systems and all aspects <strong>of</strong> a medical<br />
gas system. All Plumbing work shall be done in a workmanlike<br />
manner and in compliance with the provisions <strong>of</strong> this<br />
Code.<br />
101.4.4.1 All installations regulated by this Code or related<br />
drainage work shall be maintained and executed in such<br />
a manner as not to constitute a nuisance or to threaten or<br />
impair the health <strong>of</strong> any individual or the public in general.<br />
The contents <strong>of</strong> such installations shall not be permitted<br />
to overflow in a building, on a premise or upon the<br />
surface <strong>of</strong> the ground, street or sidewalk.<br />
101.4.4.1(a) Rainwater or other liquid wastes from any<br />
premises shall be disposed <strong>of</strong> where same originates<br />
and/or falls. The disposal <strong>of</strong> any rainwater or other liquid<br />
wastes by causing or allowing same to be disposed<br />
<strong>of</strong> or flow on or across any adjoining property or sidewalk,<br />
either public or private, shall be deemed a nuisance,<br />
and shall be corrected by properly disposing <strong>of</strong><br />
same.<br />
101.4.4.2 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation,<br />
whether owner or agent, to create, keep, cause,<br />
maintain, propagate and permit the existence <strong>of</strong> a public<br />
nuisance as defined in the provisions <strong>of</strong> the FBC, Plumbing<br />
Code.<br />

101.4.4.3 The Chief Plumbing Inspector/Building Official<br />
shall have the power to abate any nuisance by the issuance<br />
<strong>of</strong> a notice in writing, to correct and/or eliminate the nuisance<br />
within a reasonable amount <strong>of</strong> time.<br />
101.4.5 Property maintenance. Reserved.<br />
101.4.6 Fire prevention. For provisions related to fire prevention,<br />
refer to the FFPC as referenced in Florida Statute<br />
633, Broward County Local FFPCs as adopted and the Fire<br />
Protection Provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code as referenced above. The<br />
FFPC shall apply to matters affecting or relating to structures,<br />
processes and premises from the hazard <strong>of</strong> fire and<br />
explosion arising from the storage, handling or use <strong>of</strong> structures,<br />
materials or devices; from conditions hazardous to<br />
life, property or public welfare in the occupancy <strong>of</strong> structures<br />
or premises; and from the construction, extension, repair,<br />
alteration or removal <strong>of</strong> fire suppression and alarm systems<br />
or fire hazards in the structure or on the premises from<br />
occupancy or operation.<br />
101.4.7 Energy. The provisions <strong>of</strong> the FBC, Energy Conservation,<br />
shall apply to all matters governing the design and<br />
construction <strong>of</strong> building for energy efficiency.<br />
101.4.8 Accessibility. For provisions related to accessibility,<br />
refer to the FBC, Accessibility.<br />
101.4.9 Manufactured buildings. For additional administrative<br />
and special code requirements, see section 428, FBC,<br />
Building, and Rule 9B-1 F.A.C.<br />
101.4.10 Units <strong>of</strong> measure. The inch/pound system <strong>of</strong><br />
measurement is applicable to the provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code.<br />
Metric units indicated in parenthesis following inch-pound<br />
units are approximate equivalents and are provided for informational<br />
purposes only.<br />
101.4.11 Federal and state authority. The provisions <strong>of</strong><br />
this Code shall not be held to deprive any Federal or State<br />
agency, or any applicable governing AHJ <strong>of</strong> any power<br />
which it had on the effective date <strong>of</strong> the adoption <strong>of</strong> this<br />
Code or <strong>of</strong> any remedy then existing for the enforcement <strong>of</strong><br />
its orders.<br />
SECTION 102<br />
APPLICABILITY<br />
102.1 General. Where, in any specific case, different sections <strong>of</strong><br />
this Code specify different materials, methods <strong>of</strong> construction or<br />
other requirements, the most restrictive shall govern. Where<br />
there is a conflict between a general requirement and a specific<br />
requirement, the specific requirement shall be applicable.<br />
102.1.1 The FBC, Fire Protection Provisions <strong>of</strong> this Code<br />
and the FFPC does not apply to, and no code enforcement<br />
action shall be brought with respect to, zoning requirements,<br />
land use requirements and owner specifications or programmatic<br />
requirements which do not pertain to and govern the<br />
2010 FBC — Building 1.2<br />
