To our dismay, the design works were incomplete and much time and<br />

additional resources had to be expended in order to resolve these issues.<br />

This resulted in unacceptable delays in the commencement <strong>of</strong> this Project.<br />

However, the upside is that three Grenadian firms have now pre-qualified<br />

for bidding. Moreover, the designs are now far more functional and<br />

appropriate to our needs.<br />

The Ministry <strong>of</strong> Works has assured us that it is doing all in its power to<br />

start this project as soon as possible. The Project comprises the Grenville<br />

Market, Bus Terminal and Mirabeau Abattoir. The Minister for Works<br />

will provide details on the likely start time <strong>of</strong> the various components.<br />

Agricultural Feeder Roads Phase II<br />

This project will include the following roads:<br />

Mt. St. John, St. Andrew<br />

Munich-Bacolet, St. Andrew<br />

Claboney, St. Andrew<br />

Bailles Bacolet – La Pastora, St. David<br />

Morne Delice – Morne Gazo, St. David<br />

Concord, St. John<br />

Red Mud – Belle Vue Mountain, St. Mark<br />

Plaisance, St. Patrick<br />

Mon Repos, St. Patrick<br />

Welcome Hall Road, Chantimelle, St. Patrick<br />

Mr. Speaker, I wish to make it abundantly clear that the <strong>Government</strong> has<br />

done all that is required <strong>of</strong> it to facilitate the commencement <strong>of</strong> this project.<br />

That includes the following:<br />

- Securing parliamentary approval for the loans from the Kuwait<br />

Fund and the OPEC Fund<br />

- Signing a contract with the consultant, DIWI<br />
