Place Syntax analysis of Bredäng
Like Rinkeby, Place Syntax Tool has been applied to Bredäng in two ways: number
of syntactic steps and metric distance to the Centrum. I first discuss on the syntactic
properties of the neighbourhood. Figure 5.8 gives a picture of the area coloured in
5 groups. In this neighbourhood 375 address points located in a topologic distance
of 8 to 10 turns from the Centrum. This is equal to 47 percent of the whole address
points. The next group includes 270 address points having 6 to 8 turns distance including
34 percent of the whole. If we sum up these groups it is realized that more
than 80 percent of address points are allocated in a far topologic distance from the
communal centre of the neighbourhood. Interestingly a large number of these two
groups is being encompassed by the circle indicating 500 m bird distance (Figure
5.8). The reminder of address points only comprises 149 points out of 794 spreading
over 3 groups. Concerning topologic accessibility Bredäng appears problematic
since most of the houses located in a large syntactic distance from the Cntrum.

Figure 5.9 concerns metric distances on the basis of actual network distance. It represents
a picture rather similar to the topologic analysis of the area in the sense that a
considerable part of the neighbourhood is identified as being far from the centrum.
