708.2 When additions or remodeling is to be done to a facility, prior to construction, a copy of <strong>the</strong><br />

facility floor plan <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> existing <strong>and</strong> new construction will be submitted to <strong>the</strong> Office of Long<br />

Term Care <strong>for</strong> approval. <strong>The</strong> plan must assure <strong>the</strong> entire facility (existing structure as well as <strong>the</strong><br />

addition) meets Chapter 21 of <strong>the</strong> Life Safety Code 1985 <strong>and</strong> must be readily accessible <strong>and</strong><br />

useable by individuals with disabilities including individuals who use wheelchairs.<br />

708.3 If an existing facility that does not comply with Chapter 21 of <strong>the</strong> 1985 Life Safety Code must be<br />

relicensed under <strong>the</strong> requirements of Section 205, <strong>the</strong> new licensee must comply fully with <strong>the</strong><br />

appropriate Life Safety Code <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> facility must be readily accessible <strong>and</strong> useable by<br />

individuals with disabilities including individuals who use wheelchairs.<br />

708.4 Periodic inspections will be made by personnel with <strong>the</strong> Office of Long Term Care during<br />

construction. Once construction has been completed, <strong>the</strong> facility will be required to submit<br />

documentation that <strong>the</strong> electrical, plumbing <strong>and</strong> gas has been installed in accordance with local<br />

<strong>and</strong> state codes, along with <strong>the</strong> license number of <strong>the</strong> person conducting <strong>the</strong> inspection.<br />

709 WATER SUPPLY<br />

An adequate supply of water, under pressure, must be provided at all times. When a public water system is<br />

available, a connection must be made <strong>the</strong>reto. If water from a source o<strong>the</strong>r than a public water supply is used,<br />

<strong>the</strong> supply must meet <strong>the</strong> requirements set <strong>for</strong>th under <strong>rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>regulations</strong> of <strong>the</strong> State Board of Health.<br />

710 SEWAGE<br />

All sewage must be disposed of by means of ei<strong>the</strong>r:<br />

1. A public system where one is accessible within 300 feet; or<br />

2. An approved sewage disposal system which is constructed <strong>and</strong> operated in con<strong>for</strong>mance with <strong>the</strong><br />

st<strong>and</strong>ards established <strong>for</strong> such systems by <strong>the</strong> State Board of Health.<br />

711 PLUMBING<br />

Facilities must comply with all provisions of <strong>the</strong> state plumbing <strong>and</strong> gas code <strong>and</strong> amendments <strong>the</strong>reto<br />

prescribing minimum requirements <strong>for</strong> design, materials, appliances, workmanship <strong>and</strong><br />

methods of installation.<br />

712 ELECTRICAL<br />

Electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances, motors <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r electrical equipment must be installed in accordance<br />

with <strong>the</strong> national electrical code National Fire Prevention Association's Pamphlet #70 <strong>and</strong> comply with local<br />

<strong>regulations</strong> <strong>and</strong>/or codes where <strong>the</strong>y exist.<br />

713 HEATING/COOLING<br />

713.3 All liquefied petroleum gas systems must be installed <strong>and</strong> maintained in accordance with <strong>the</strong><br />

State Code <strong>for</strong> Liquefied Petroleum Gas Containers <strong>and</strong> Equipment, State of <strong>Arkansas</strong>.<br />
