We know that first impressions last.
All of our residents should be proud of their
borough; businesses should feel that the local
environment helps attract custom and visitors
should be so impressed that they come back again!
Hillingdon lies on the outer fringe of the Capital.
Our position means that we benefit from more
green spaces, parks and woodland than many
boroughs; it also means that we don’t have the
comprehensive transport links enjoyed by inner
London. Our task for the decade ahead is to protect
and enhance our green areas, while improving our
transport network. We want to see better links with
boroughs to the north and south and we want to
encourage more use of public transport. Above all,
we will ensure that the local street scene is
attractive and well-maintained, that our refuse
services are second to none and that we
demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the
environment.
By 2015, we will:
• Fully involve our residents and communities in
the setting and monitoring of performance
standards for all streetscene services, from street
cleansing to graffiti removal.
• Develop an integrated and efficient transport
network, focused on more and better public
transport, while addressing the needs of all road
users.
• Ensure that Hillingdon sets the pace for London
in adopting environmentally-friendly policies and
practices.
• Fully assess the impact of development at
Heathrow on our local environment and quality
of life and strive to ensure that the airport’s
future plans reflect the best interests of local
people.
